Abstract


With the deepening of the higher education reform, we should especially pay attention to the students’ engagement. There are two reasons for that:Firstly, only if we try to improve students’ engagement, we can really improve education and teaching quality. Secondly, only if we follow the inner law of learning, we can deepen the education reform. Therefore,it is very necessary to discuss the internal structure, features and internal factors of college students’ engagement.In order to enrich the research results of college students’ engagement, we carried on the questionnaire survey of 453 college students about the relationship between their achievement goal and their engagement, and the relationship between their academic self-efficiency and their engagement.The main research conclusions are as follows:1. In terms of Achievement goal, freshmen scored significantly higher than juniors at performance avoidance goal. Meanwhile, freshmen scores significantly higher than sophomores and juniors at mastery goal. In terms of Academic self-efficiency, there only exits the interaction of college students’gender, grade and home place. In terms of engagement, rural college students have significantly higher level of engagement than city college students.3.Performance approach goal, mastery goal, academic self-efficacy respectively have significant positive correlation with college students’ engagement, while Performance avoidance goal doesn’t have significant positive correlation with college students’ engagement.4.Academic self-efficiency fully mediates the influence of college students’ mastery goal, performance approach goal and performance avoidance goal on their engagement.
