Abstract


Fuyang paper cutting of Anhui province, is a widespread folk art in the midstream of HuaiheRiver.2008. The State Council approved the Fuyang paper cutting into the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage list expansion projects. Fuyang is located between the Yellow River and the south of the lower reaches of the Yangtze River, has always been a transport hub between Henan, Anhui, Jiangsu, Shandong and South and the North China. Because of its unique geographical location, Fuyang absorbs a variety of cultural style. This art of Fuyang paper cutting blends both cultures of north and south China, to the thickness combination of Yin and Yang alternate way to form a rich, full composition, hardness with softness, simple and beautiful, romantic exaggeration of the local characteristics ,having a certain influence in the country. Because of its history of the bustling business, Fuyang paper cutting artists formed a professional team very early, which made a living selling their paper-cutting. Cheng Jianli is a typical artist of them, his artistic style represented the art of paper cutting characteristics of Fuyang. Meanwhile, Fuyang paper-cutting is an important part of the varies local folk activities, which carries the local folk culture, and also reflects the local people’s longing and yearning for a better life.This paper is on the basis of fieldwork studying. By visiting many paper-cutting artists, and visiting the museum,and interviewing the local Folk Arts Research Center, Institute of Fuyang cutting, Fuyang Arts and Crafts Society, and other units ,the author has collected plenty of Fuyang paper-cutting pictures, and mastered a large number of fresh information and materials. On the analysis of these data as the basis, the author tried to explore the environmental context,and summarize the folk features, and the main creative and production process of the Fuyang paper cutting .As a result, the author can manage to analysis the performance of the themes ,the styles and the decorative patterns and cutting skills of the Fuyang paper cutting. Also the author has summed up some other aspects of this art and can feature a more comprehensive analysis, inquiry and discussion, as well as the author’s knowledge and insights of the Fuyang paper-cutting art form .Finally, the author proposes her view and suggestions towards the future development to the Fuyang paper cutting, hopping this paper will help to find a way of complement and development of the theory and a feasible path to the contemporary development of Fuyang paper cutting art.
