Abstract


The employment situation of Chinese college students has become increasingly severe. And one of the most important reasons for such a situation is the inadequacy of higher education. What is more, employment education is an important aspect of the whole higher education. Therefore, it is imminent to perform the innovation of employment education in universities. This not only helps students to successful employment and promotes them to be a useful man, but also contributes to the deepening of the reform of higher education and promotes the construction of a harmonious socialist society.Like the way to solve other problems, to perform the innovation of employment education in universities in China, we need to learn the experience of higher education in developed countries and make specific system design according to China’s actual demand. Thus, in this paper, we begin at finding the new challenges and problems in the employment of university students and point out the significance and principles of the innovation of employment education for college students; secondly, we comb the theories of overseas employment education and summarize its practical experience; finally, we specifically propose the innovation vision of the employment education for Chinese college students.After investigation and analysis, we find that there are four major problems in employment education for Chinese college students. Above all, employment education lacks market awareness; secondly, employment education is confined to theory indoctrination; thirdly, employment education is limited to a static concept of employment; finally, employment education neglects the funtion of former graduates. In view of the above questions, we need to stick to four cardinal principles in the innovation of employment education for Chinese college students:students-oriented principle, ability cultivation principle, talent-demand principle and employment- oriented principle. In order to perform effective innovatin of employment education in universities in China, we need to be familiar with the following four typical theories and their major opinions of higher education in developed countries. Namely, the trait-and-factor theory and its major opinions, the typology theory and its major opinions, the development theory and its major opinions, and the social learning theory of career decision making and its major opinions. Based on combing the theories and investigation, we find four experiences of employment education of university students in America and Japan. They are thorough and detailed career planning and employment counseling and guidance, the vocational guidance which is designed specific to the individuals, the cultivation of a generalist that meets social needs and the emphasis of the expansion of practice. The forementioned theories and practice provide three enlightments for innovation of employment education for college students in China. Firstly, we need to construct the legal system of employment education for college students; secondly, we should build a three-level cooperation system in employment education including our govermment, universities and enterprises; last but not least, we need to improve the system of employment education for college students. In this paper, we argue that it is a systematic project to perform the innovation of employment education for college students in China and we should innovate in the following four aspects. The first aspect is the concept innovation which means employment education should be changed from employment guidance to value guidance. On the one hand, the school should avoid short-term "promotion", and on the other hand, the students should be based on long-term "growth". The second aspect is the system innovation which is carrying out specific education step by step. For the freshman, self-cognition and recognition of reality should be emphasized. And for students in Grade Two and Grade Three, cultivation of career quality should be emphasized. What’s more, for the Grade Four students, scientific career choices should be emphasized and discipline system should be adjusted according to the market orientation. The third aspect is the method innovation which is focusing on improving the ability of college students. And we should guarantee the combination of theory education and practice, the combination of school education and enterprise participation, the combination of education of fresh graduates and that of former graduates and the combinatin of employment and entrepreneurship. The fourth aspect is the institutional innovation which means providing guarantee for innovation of employment education and establishing and improving teachers’ access system, performance assessment system and the system of reward and punishment in employment education. All the innovation approaches mentioned above must be functioned comprehensively and be carried out coordinately without prejudice so as to get the best effects.
