Chen Yuan is a famous expert in editing and publishing in China, he served as a publishing organization leadership positions after the establishment of the People’s Republic of China. Especially, he is engaged in the Commercial Press as chief editor and general manager. He was named as the leader of the publishing industry. His publishing management thoughts are still the important publications wealth. His thoughts are important for the press to strengthen their own management and improving the core competitive power.Chen Yuan’s publication management thoughts are mainly reflected in three aspects. The first is planning management thoughts. Planning is the necessary conditions for the healthy development of publishing company, the leader in the planning management should pay attention to the practicability and times and notice the press has its own feature, especially they should clear the development direction and ensure their priority of publishing. The second is the organization management. Publishing is a complicated system engineering, and its harmonious moving can not leave the earlier handover of the adjacent subsystem and system’s adjustment of itself. Its pyramid command system highlight navigation action of the leader. Meanwhile, the leaders will have quality consciousness of publishing, avoid "dried fish" phenomenon appeared. The third is talent management. Leaders of talent management, on the one hand, they should be good at discovering and training the talents, on the other hand their management must be effectively.Due to the limitation of the age, Chen Yuan’s publication management thoughts also have deficiencies, as in the payment and book best-selling aspects show "left" tendencies, talents introduction and the life of employee lack enough attention .
