Abstract


In the 1970s , fracture mechanics quickly grown up , and in recent years successful application to the to science and other fields . Because a large number of fissures and faults in the tectonic fracture mechanics some conclusion , especially about rock and ceramic fracture concluded that can be used to study the the crust crack propagation law and the mechanical process of the earthquake in the mid .60 , some of the achievements of fracture mechanics and seismology able to satisfactorily explain the process of earthquake fault power source and low stress drop phenomenon , a great help for the exploration of the physics of earthquake source . fracture mechanics point of view and methods provide a new way for the study of the physics of earthquake source , is an important area of physics of earthquake source of this article is divided into a total of five parts , mainly mechanics on the results and to learn to explain the low stress drop phenomenon found in focal observations the introduction of first part , an overview of the development of fracture mechanics and it geosciences some application , also introduced the related research of this paper content and structure of the paper arrangements given in the second part of this article some of the theories and formulas , to lay the foundation for subsequent research work . third section describes the elastic half-plane oblique edge crack problem solving , the calculated stress intensity factor . fourth part of the fault model , combining the results of the inclined edge crack problems in the mechanics and Geo , through the results of the dimensionless critical stress value , oblique boundary cracks on the strike-slip fault instability the focal observations found in the low stress drop phenomenon quantitative estimate of the fifth part of the results of this paper are summarized , and put forward some of the work should be done in the future .
