Abstract

Automobile industry in China has been experiencing a rapid growth these years. The traffic safety problem followed gains more and more concern. While the automobile is coming into every family, children become the easy-seen passengers. In this circumstance, child safety in the vehicle collision catches more and more attention of the related traffic agencies and the research institutes. Often, we use child restraint system to protect child passengers in the car impact, so the research of child restraint system can indicate the design and the utilization of it, in order to promote the safety of the child passengers in the auto collision. This thesis use computer simulation to study the belt-positioning booster in the vehicle front impact by analyzing the dynamic of the child dummy. Using a P6 multiple body front impact dummy, an automobile front collision dynamic model with a 6 year old child passenger was built in the simulation program Madymo. The model contains vehicle floor, rear seat, belt-positioning booster, hybrid safety belt and P6 dummy models. Based on this model, by changing the design and utilization of the booster, their influence on the child dynamic is researched. The outputs of the simulation are:resultant head acceleration, resultant chest acceleration, HIC, neck z-component force and neck y-component moment. Two evaluation methods based on the above 5 output parameters are raised in this thesis, and they are used to evaluate the different designs and uses of the belt-positioning booster. The simulation analysis result shows that, when using this belt-positioning booster, fastening it to the rear seat is preferred. Because by doing so, the 6 year old passenger can be sufficiently protected in the vehicle front impact. Based on this conclusion, it is suggested that engineers should design fixtures for the booster to connect it to the rear seat firmly. This design can efficiently reduce the injure risk of the child passengers in the automobile front impact.
