The rapid development of the metropolitan area need with them to adapt to the traffic system as a support rail transit system as a large capacity, fast, safe, energy-efficient, comfortable, low-pollution public passenger way to adapt to the development of the modern metropolitan area backbone transport systems. The metropolitan area rail transportation network including the main line railway passenger line, the traditional cargo and passenger railway line, intercity rail, urban rail transit four sub-network, different levels of track transportation network has different characteristics. With the advent of rail transport network size effect, the formation of an integrated rail transit system, in order to give full play to the leading role of rail transportation in the metropolitan area transportation system, reasonable and sound decisions and choices of network convergence mode is particularly important. In this paper, a combination of theoretical study and practical application of engineering methods, proceeding from the basic theory of rail traffic convergence mode to commence a study to establish the rail transportation mode selection method and model of convergence, rail transportation network in the Pearl River Delta region as an example to validate the results with consistent design that created interval DEA (Data Envelopment Analysis) model has some applicability. The paper work and the results are as follows: (1) functional positioning division basis, the metropolitan area rail traffic is divided into four different levels of the passenger from the service line setting, equipment use (including both vehicle equipment and power supply system speed target value elements), operator organizations (including the organization of train fare collection system, three elements) and a total of four perspectives on one of the main characteristics of the three levels of rail traffic analysis. (2) expounded the meaning of rail transportation network convergence based on the the transfer hub collinear operators two main modes of convergence. First of all, in the interface between the mode based on the research transfer hub rail line, passenger transfer at the transfer station. Then, on the basis of the summary overview of the operational development of the collinear implementations collinear type, run the program three aspects to build the basic mode of operation of collinear explore the problems faced by the collinear operators and the corresponding solution method. (3) determine the interval DEA model of decision-making evaluation and analysis, to resolve the basic concepts of the DEA model and evaluate ideas, combined with the actual status of the establishment of the special needs of the fuzzy interval DEA model elaborated on the convergence mode selected on the basis of the basic principles of and index calculation system based on the construction of the model, the solution of the model calculation and the results of analysis. (4) to the Pearl River Delta region for instance research, an overview of the different levels of the Pearl River Delta region rail transit network, application convergence mode selection decision-making methods, rail transportation network convergence model recommended in the Pearl River Delta region, and through two typical cases, carried out a detailed analysis of the convergence model selection step.
