Abstract


Throughout the history of the English teaching reform, is not difficult to find, and improving the quality of teachers, especially the rise and development of the teachers teaching beliefs is the key to solve a variety of English teaching problems. Junior high school English teachers in rural areas is almost rural students receiving English education pathfinder their teaching beliefs, teaching English as a whole has a greater impact. For effective English teaching reform, teachers' beliefs need to change. This study suggests that the junior high school English teachers teaching beliefs constituted by the seven elements of the students, teachers, teaching content (courses), teaching methods, teaching objectives, teaching and learning environment, evaluation feedback. This study to explore the current status of rural junior high school English teachers teaching beliefs and factors affecting rural junior high school English teachers teaching beliefs questionnaire survey of 266 rural junior high school English teachers from Chongqing and Sichuan, and select from a different age, education, schools, etc. different qualifications interviews with 11 teachers. The survey results show that: most of the teachers have a clear teaching beliefs, and has accepted a new course in English teaching philosophy - a student-centered, often teaching reflection, evaluation should be a combination of formative and summative due to internal and external environmental factors, behavior change is relatively slow; majority of rural junior high school English teachers every band finished the term for a loop, teachers teaching grade teaching beliefs also slightly different. In general, the first day teachers tend to construct the teaching concept, the first two days of a turning point the junior teachers strengthened due to the pressure of the external environment such as in the test, was gradually changed the traditional concept of teaching, that is one-way, mechanical teach in the examination mainly related questions; certain differences in their beliefs about teaching and classroom teaching practice, the difference is the contradiction between the goals put forward by teachers experience teaching beliefs and their own professional quality with the new curriculum, teachers The contradiction between the expectations of students and students' actual level of overall teaching beliefs and colleagues presented the layered and contradictions as well as teacher education teaching beliefs impact. For these factors, the study proposed the development of rural junior high school English teachers teaching beliefs recommendations from the three levels of the society, schools and teachers. Survey showed that the study of rural junior high school English teachers teaching must overcome obstacles that affect rural junior high school English teachers teaching beliefs, the reconstruction improve teachers' beliefs about teaching development system, in order to protect the quality of rural junior high school English teaching.
