Abstract


Traditionally, literature and history had profound relation. However, with the rise of New historism thought, a new kind of interactive relationship emerges between literature and history----the history compilation contains fictive factors in some extent, while we could find some "truth" in literature works. The novel "Gu xiang xiang chu liu chuan", which ranks in the magnum opus list of Liu zhenyun, is selected as the subject of our analysis. This thesis employs criticism methods of New historism literary theory. By analyzing the thought kernel, spirit point and tactic of recountal of this novel, we attemp to illustrate main differences among Neo-history novel, history novel and revolution history novel. Furthermore, we reason out how does this novel related to history in three dimensions----experience, imagination and narrate.
