Abstract


Baekground:Syphilis caused by Treponema pallidum (TP) is a chronic infectious diseases,which has a more strong infectious in the early stages of syphilis and variable clinical symptoms.Syphilis almost enable all the tissues and organs of body to be infected,which has a serious threat for the global public health.Syphilis has the very complex immune mechanism which has not been fully elucidated. Previous studies has showed that after the body be infected by TP,the humoral immune protection effected on the body is very limited,cellular immunity play a key role in the process of the host’s immunity defensed against TP, and the other cytokines included IL-4,IL-12, which involve in this process,have major impact on the pathogenesis of syphilis,but it has not been relatedly reported to the role of IFN-y,IL-18 and IL-13 in the cellular immunity of early syphilis.Objective:To assess the role of IFN-y,IL-18 and IL-13 in the cellular immunity of early syphilis by detecting serum levels of IFN-y,IL-18 and IL-13 in early syphilis,analyzing their correlation as well as studying the relation between the serum levels of IFN-y,IL-18 and IL-13 and the different stages of early syphilis,titer changes of RPR test.Methods:Subjects were the 102 Serum samples included the 50 patients’with early syphilis and the 52 healthy individuals’ from June to October in 2010,which were divided into four groups included the primary syphilis group,the secondary syphilis group,the early latent syphilis group and the normal control group.After eliminating the interference of other factors,the patients with early syphilis which were not treated were diagnosed by RPR test and TPPA test. Detection at the serum levels of IFN-y,IL-18 and IL-13 of sujects by DAbS-ELISA.The tatistical datas of sujects were studied by T test,analysis of variance, least significant difference method (LSD) and linear correlation analysis in Statistical software with SPSS17.0.Results:Serum levels of IFN-y,IL-18 and IL-13 were higher in early syphilis than those in control group (P<0.05),serum levels of IFN-y and IL-18 were higher in primary syphilis than those in secondary syphilis,early latent syphilis and control group (P<0.05),serum levels of IL-13 were higher in secondary syphilis than those in primary syphilis and control group (P<0.01),lower than those in early latent syphilis (P<0.05);Titer of RPR test wasn’t related to IFN-y,IL-18 and IL-13(P>0.05);Negative correlation between IFN-y and IL-13(P<0.05),positive correlation between IFN-γand IL-18 (P<0.01),no correlation between IL-18 and IL-13 (P>0.05). Conclusion:1、The progress of early syphilis might be related to imbalance of Th1/Th2 immune response.2、Different changes of IFN-γ、IL-18 and IL-13 weren’t related to titer of RPR test.
