Purpose: differentiation inhibitory factor 1 (Inhibitors of the differenti - ation-1, Id-1 through the detection of brain metastases organization) differentiation inhibitory factor 3 (Id-3) and matrix metalloproteinase-9 (Matrix Metallop-roteinase-9, MMP -9) expression, and to explore the role of the three brain metastases formation and invasion. Method: 1 Select after surgical resection of brain metastases sample of 44 cases, the other to take the normal brain tissue (cerebral hernia underwent decompression resection of normal brain tissue) sample of 10 cases, all samples by 10% formalin-fixed, paraffin- embedded serial sections. While the transfer of the archives of the Department of Pathology, patients corresponding primary tumor tumor specimens wax block, serial sections. 2 set of brain metastases and primary tumors in the observation group, the normal brain tissue as a control group, according to their age, gender, primary tumor site, were grouped control. Immunohistochemical method to detect Id-1, Id-3 and of MMP-9 protein in the primary tumor, brain metastases, and normal brain tissue expression. 10 high power field, positive level, assessed according to the percentage of positive cells to calculate the rate of positive cells counted under high magnification (400x) of each slice. 3 collected clinical and pathological data of all the samples. Experimental data using SPSS 13.0 software for statistical analysis, and analysis of the correlation between the expression of Id-1, Id-3 and MMP-9 three. Results: In 44 patients with brain metastases, Id-1, Id-3, MMP-9 positive expression rates were 93.2% (41/44), 95.5% (42/44), 81.8% (36/44) ; from the primary tumor Tumor Pathology to the transfer of seven cases, Id-1, Id-3, MMP-9 positive expression rates were 71.4% (5/7), 71.4% (5/7), 57.1% (4/7); three had no positive expression in normal brain tissue. 2 Id-1, Id-3, MMP-9 in brain metastases its primary foci expression were significantly higher than those in normal brain tissue (P lt; 0.05), three brain metastases expressed in the tumor and primary tumor the difference was not statistically significant (P gt; 0.05). Based on the patient's age, gender and different grouping of the primary tumor, Id-1, Id-3, MMP-9 expression in different groups of brain metastases, the difference was not statistically significant (P gt; 0.05). 3 pairs of all brain metastasis tumor samples in the Id of Id-3, expression of MMP-9 of expression situation line correlation analysis show, Id-1 and MMP-9 expression was significantly with are related (γ = 0.386, P = 0.010). Id-3 and MMP-9 expression was positively correlated (γ = 0.306, P = 0.043), Id-1 and Id-3 expression was also found a positive correlation (0.319, P = 0.035). Id-1 and MMP-9 the correlation wherein the most significant. Conclusion: Id-1, Id-3, of MMP-9 in brain metastases and their primary foci are highly expressed, not expressed in normal brain tissue and three brain metastases high expression in the tumor and primary tumor parts, regardless of the patient's age and gender. Id-1, Id-3, MMP-9 expression was a significant correlation between Id-1 and MMP-9 both correlation is particularly significant in the brain metastases group. So that Id-1 and Id-3, except itself involved in the formation and development of brain metastases, Id-1 may also regulate the expression of MMP-9, for the formation of metastases conditions. Id-1, Id-3, high expression of MMP-9 in the formation of brain metastases has played an important role in Biology and three there are certain synergy between the occurrence of brain metastases mechanism provides a new research ideas.
