Objective: To investigate chorioamnionitis for small gestational age preterm children brain damage ( including periventricular leukomalacia, intraventricular hemorrhage and periventricular a ) effects . METHODS: June 2008 to October 2010 in our hospital were born small gestational age ( 28 weeks -34 weeks ) of 88 cases of premature children . According to the existence of maternal chorioamnionitis divided into chorioamnionitis group ( 41 cases ) and without chorioamnionitis group ( 47 cases ) . All patients from birth to 3 to 7 days after the start line cranial ultrasound B , neonatal period a week later a second , then every 2 to 4 weeks after 1 to 3 months after birth , a total of 6 to 8 times ; and All of the cases in the 40 weeks of corrected gestational age when the line of brain MRI examinations were compared two groups of periventricular leukomalacia, intraventricular hemorrhage and periventricular an occurrence . Results: There chorioamnionitis in preterm children with periventricular leukomalacia incidence rate of 31.7 percent , the group without chorioamnionitis in preterm children with periventricular leukomalacia incidence of 6.4% , the difference was statistically significant (P lt ; 0.05 ) . The incidence of intraventricular hemorrhage two groups were 26.8 % and 23.4% , no significant difference between two groups (P gt; 0.05). Conclusion: chorioamnionitis in preterm children have a certain relationship of brain injury : can periventricular leukomalacia in preterm children increased incidence , but has little effect on intraventricular hemorrhage .
