Abstract


In cognitive processes, the inhibition mechanism is usually defined to prevent irrelevant information into the working memory or clear out irrelevant information from working memory processing mechanism, it has three functions: preventing accessible, clear and restrictions. Function is to prevent the accessible interference information in working memory is not activated or more difficult to activate, known as the suppression processing role; clear the main features and limitations of the interference has been activated after work, so that the deactivating by the activation of the interference information, or to limit the the advantage dominant tendency to react, may be grouped together to suppress the after effects of the process of processing. Inhibitory mechanisms in the end is how to play a role, is still controversial among researchers. The sentence is a fundamental part of the discourse, often the sentence read by a variety of information, including interference from sentence internal interference and external interference, to study the inhibition of individual sentences read both inside and outside interference is of great significance. , Suppression of individual differences research mostly concentrated in different age groups, different language comprehension and working memory capacity, the performance of these differences for the inhibition efficiency of different. Cognitive style is an important perspective to study individual differences, many studies have shown that the suppression of the different cognitive styles of individual differences, but inhibition of ambiguous words, as well as field independently complete inhibition of the time required for the conclusion of the study, there are still some controversial. Taking into account there is a big difference between Chinese and English, this study will focus on the above two arguments, Chinese sentences as experimental material, the purpose is to explore the different cognitive styles of individual inhibition of ambiguous words and external interference stimulus differences in sentence comprehension, as well as the field independently complete information a matter of time outside interference suppression investigated the suppression of the individual interference information occurs the process of the former role after role. This study consists of two experiments in which experimental behavioral experiments, experiments using Eye Movements. Experiment with different types of sentences and time intervals to examine the differences of the different cognitive styles of individuals in the suppression of an ambiguous word in sentence comprehension 2 × 2 × 2 three-factor mixed design argument is cognitive style (field independence and field dependence) sentence type (experimental sentence, control sentence) and the time interval ISI (150ms, 750ms), cognitive style between-subjects factors, time interval the ISI and sentence type as within-subject factors. Experimental the Eye Movements paradigm and distracted reading paradigm combined to study the different cognitive styles of individuals of different nature interference suppression in sentence comprehension stimulate difference. 2 × 4 two-factor mixed design, the independent variables of cognitive style (field independence and field dependence), the the interference material properties (semantic interference, independent of the semantic interference, false word interference, no interference), in which the cognitive style for test factors, interference material properties for the within-subject factors. Based on this study, the following conclusions: (1) inhibition in different cognitive style individual differences in the ability of ambiguous words in the reading of the sentence, the field of independent individuals can earlier to basically complete inhibition of ambiguous words. (2) field independent cognitive style of individuals with Varied Meaning interference suppression basic completion time is less than or equal to 750ms. (3) Different Cognitive Styles individual's ability to suppress external interference stimulation there are differences, the field of independent individuals able to earlier, better basic completion of the different nature of the sentence external distractor inhibition. This difference occurs mainly after role in the inhibition processing procedure. (4) the meaning of distractor have a certain impact on the inhibitory effect. Compared to real words and false word interference materials (semantically related and unrelated) more difficult to be suppressed. (5) interference stimulation semantic inhibition have a certain impact, compared to irrelevant information and semantic the semantic interference information than the more difficult is suppressed.
