Abstract


EversincetheconceptofemotionalintelligencewasproposedbyPsychologist,duetoits uniqueroleinhumanbehavior,emotionalintelligencehasgotquitealotofattentionfromus,an dmanyscholarseitherathomeorabroadhavehadextensiveanddetailedstudiesonthebasiccon ceptofemotionalintelligenceanditsroleandstructure.Inordertounderstandthecurrentlevelo femotionalintelligenceandmentalhealthstatusofcollegestudents,thisthesistakes"AStudyo ntheCorrelationshipbetweenCollegeStudents’EmotionalIntelligenceandtheirMentalHea lth"asitstitle.Themaincontentofthisthesiscoversthecharacteristicsofthelevelofcollegestu dents’emotionalintelligence,thebasicstatusofcollegestudents’mentalhealthandthecorrela tionshipbetweenthesetwo.Theauthorhopestoprovidemanyvaluablesuggestionsforcurrent mentalhealtheducationincollegesanduniversities.Mostoftheinformationusedinthisstudywascollectedbytheformofquestionnairesurve y,whichtookcollegestudentsfrom26bothprivateuniversitiesandindependentcollegeslocat edinGuangdongareaastestees,testedstudents’levelofemotionalintelligenceusingEmotion alIntelligenceScaleofCollegeStudentsbyXuXiaoyanandZhangJinfu,whichisbeingfreque ntlyusedandofhighefficiencyandcredit,andstudents’statusofmentalhealthusingtheMental HealthScalewithaHealthyPersonalityOrientationforCollegeStudentsbyChengKe,adoctor alstudentofProfessorHuangXiting.Thendatacollectedthroughthesurveywasanalyzedwith thehelpofSPSS16usingthemethodsofcorrelationalanalysisandregressionanalysis.Finally, theauthorconductedin-depthdiscussiononcharacteristicsofthelevelofcollegestudents’em otionalintelligence,thebasicstatusofcollegestudents’mentalhealthandthecorrelationshipb etweenthesetwo,andputforwardsomesuggestionsforhighereducation.Findingsofthisstudyshowthat:1. Thelevelofhigherschoolstudents’emotionalintelligencevaryintermsofdemograp hiccharacteristics,suchfactorsthatdocontributetothevariationarestudents’ grades,majors,e ducation,gender,etc..Factorslikeeducation,genderhaveinfluencesonthepsychologicalwel 1-beingofcollegestudents;students’capabilityofadaptingthemselvestostressisaffectedbyf actorssuchasgenderandmajors;emotionalperceptionandemotionaladaptabilityareaffecte dbystudents’grades;emotionalregulationismainlyinfluencedbythestudents’professional; emotionalexpressivenessismainlyaffectedbythefactorthatwherethestudentcomesfrom.2. Thementalhealthofcollegestudentsistosomeextentaffectedbytheirgrade,professi onal,gender,andbotheducationandtheplacewherethestudentcomesfromhavelittlethingtod owithit.Thereissignificantdifferenceamongstudentsofdifferentgendersinthetwodimensio nsas"willingnesstolearn"and"thepursuitofgoals";inaddition,thelevelofstudents’willingn esstolearnisalsoinfluencedbytheirgrades.3. Theredoesbeasignificantpositivecorrelationbetweencollegestudents’emotionalin telligenceandtheirmentalhealth.Thelevelofemotionalintelligencedoessomethingtoexplain thestatusofmentalhealth;whilethestatusofone’smentalhealthalsoreflectshislevelofemotion alintelligence.Thisshowsthatthereexistsverycloserelationshipbetweencollegestudents’em otionalintelligenceandmentalhealth,therelatedfactorsoftheminfluence,promoteandrestrai nteachother.
