Ethernet passive optical network (EPON) technology has a large transmission capacity, high reliability, low cost and flexible business implementation and other advantages, is the main direction of fixed broadband access network. In the current operator to IP network as the core of whole business transformation process, how to based on mature technology, differential can not only meet user needs, and can satisfy the network evolvability is the focus of attention for a long time, paper of EPON technology and its application in the nanjing mobile broadband access network has carried on the comprehensive research. Paper first describes the EPON principle and main technique, EPON system is given in the key technologies of physical layer and MAC layer and evolution. Paper focuses on and analyzes the EPON network, including EPON application solutions, ODN solutions and solutions for electricity, etc. On this basis, the paper detailed discusses the EPON business solutions, including traditional business carrying implementation and operational solutions. Papers finally combining with the nanjing mobile broadband access strategy and MAO mansion EPON deployment project, gives a detailed analysis of specific EPON implementation mechanisms.
