Abstract

Cohesion Theory and Discourse Studies basic synchronization, began in the 1960s. Since it was proposed as an important branch of Discourse Studies, convergence theory attracted the attention of domestic and foreign linguists. In many studies, Halliday and Hassan made the greatest contribution in the areas of research in. Convergence \reference, substitution, omitted, conjunctions, and lexical cohesion. This paper is Halliday and Hasan's taxonomy. With the convergence of the development of the theory, its research also references to the field of translation studies. Translation scientists research focus has shifted from the traditional textual level is the level of discourse. They are no longer satisfied with a word or a single sentence, but grasping the link between sentences from the significance level. To some extent, the translation is the translator on the basis of the understanding of the original the restructuring discourse translation process, therefore, has a significant convergence theory of consciousness translator,. Text Cohesion means both English and Chinese, belonging to two different language system, similar but there are differences. English-Chinese translation process, the successful use of cohesive devices or not will directly affect the quality of the translation. This article is based on Halliday and Hasan's cohesion theory, from the perspective of Discourse Cohesion system analysis and comparative study of two Chinese versions of the famous British writer Emily Bronte's \On one hand, I hope that through analysis of these two texts explore the five convergence of the effective and the best way; the other hand, I hope to show the significance of the cohesion theory in translation of the translation practice some inspiration and guidance and provide research basis for future Novel Translation convergence on treatment. The thesis is divided into five chapters. The first chapter is an introduction to wood thesis research significance, research methods and the organizational structure of the paper. The second chapter is a literature review, this paper some theoretical convergence theory developments at home and abroad, while related to cohesion, coherence, discourse, translation and contrastive linguistics. The fourth chapter is the main part of this paper, and start from various cohesive devices, the two Chinese versions of \The fifth chapter is the conclusion.
