Abstract


ObjectiveEpilepsy is one of common diseases of neurology. Epileptic generally have cognitive and behavioral disturbance, especially in children with epilepsy. Learning disabilities (LD) ,which is the generic name of lots of heterogeneous disorders, is one of the major represents of cognitive disorders in epileptic .Recently ,more and more LD were discovered in patients with epilepsy. With the purpose to investigate the ratio of LD occurred in epileptic and the features of subtype, to explore the risk factors in epileptic with LD, this research will be done.MethodsAccording to the internalize standard,110 epilepsy children from epilepsy clinic service of the First Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University , and 120 health controls, matched with sex、age、education and IQ et al ,were all assessed with the pupil rating scale revised screening for learning disabilities(PRS), and analysed the results between the two groups.Two classification logistics regression analysis was carried out to explore the possible risk factors in epileptic with LD, P<0.05 was defined as statistical significance.Results The recall ratio of LD in children with epilepsy was 36.36%, The epilepsy group was signiicantly higher than the control group (P<0.05). The incidence rate of non-verbal learning disability(NLD) was 70% in epilepsy group. Regression analysis was found that control or not, onset ages and sex were the significant factors influenced the occurrence of LD in epilepsy children.ConclusionThe risk of LD occurring in children with epilepsy was higher than normal children. The main feature subtype was NLD. And whether epilepsy is controlled or not, onset ages and sex were the significant risk factors influenced the occurrence of LD in epilepsy children.
