Abstract


Overseas trade in the Song Dynasty was a most striking phenomenon in ancient China,in which the natual economy was the main part.Spice was one of the most important kind of imports. The quantities of spicetrade was huge,the geographical scope was wide, the variety was numerous,and the influence was profound.But it didn’t mean spice produced domestically was insignificant.And the situation of the Turbo Operculum could prove it. Regard this as the background,spice began to be used in all areas of daily life of the people living in Song Dynasty,including medicine area. Spice was frequently and widely used in medical prescription,and on this basis,promoted the development of Chinese medicine,which was the features of the use of spice in Song Dynasty.The importance of spice used in medicine prescription could be proved by some means.One is that spice was used as recipe of decoction,which means the prescription was named by spice.The other one was that spice was used as monarch drug,which means that spice was the most medicine in the prescription.Shushui was such important an example,too.There were also some other examples in Song Dynasty medicine formulary.The use of spice got attention from doctors of Song Dynasty could also be proved by the consilias and romaunts by the statistics of two books. The consilias using spice in themselves usually could be seen in the prescription book.There were some other important prescrptions ,too.Based on it,Chinese medicine had some certain development.The first is the early stage of the Aromatic property theories.The second is the abundance of the Chinese medicine and the theory of Xingqi.Besides the medicine values of spice were sterilization,to dispel the effects of alcohol,to calm benefits,and so on.The people in Song Dynasty got some criticism for using too much spice.Zhu Danxi is the first one to systematically criticize it.But some Song Dynasty doctors had found it and warned.Especially some Song Dynasty persons used Keruing to kill themselves.Five examples could be found in Song Dynasty document literature.And the author conjectured that the use of spice by Song Dynasty persons maybe relate to the coldness during Song Dynasty.
