Extracted 336 sample households for the survey, the consumption level of rural residents in Xinyang City in 2010 and changes in consumption structure, combined with household survey data and historical statistics, from the level of income, the level of consumer spending, consumer spending, structural changes, and consumer environment in four areas related quantitative and qualitative analysis of the factors affecting the consumption of rural residents in Xinyang City, given reasonable recommendations. The main research conclusions: 1. Revenue is the most important factors affecting consumption of rural residents in Xinyang City, have different effects on different types of income of rural residents' consumption. Durable consumer income elasticity of 0.689, a temporary income elasticity of 0.135. 2. Positive correlation between consumption and income of rural residents in Xinyang City. 3. Consumption of rural residents have greater consumer inertia, past consumption on current consumption has a greater impact. 4 Xinyang area, the level of social security, infrastructure, consumer attitudes, the construction of the consumer market, and commodities to the countryside policy consumption of rural residents in Xinyang City will also have different degrees of impact. Xinyang City in rural areas, the level of social security has increased, but the overall social security coverage or lower, poor infrastructure construction. Analysis of the consumption structure of rural residents in Xinyang City, in recent years, the proportion of food consumption decreased year by year, health care and education, culture and entertainment in the proportion of consumption is growing steadily, the Engel's coefficient showed a declining trend, rural residents in Xinyang City living standards gradually improved, from shift stage from quantity expansion to meet the food and clothing to focus on the quality of life of the well-off stage.
