Abstract
|
Cold-rolled ribbed steel bars have many advantages such as high strength, good anchorage performance, as well as convenient construction. It will bring apparent economic and social effect if they can be widely used. However,“Seismic Design of Buildings (GB50011-2001)”only specifies stirrup spacing and minimum diameter for the column without the strength grade. So it is not an economic way to use these steel bars directly according to the code. If we can verify that according to the principles of equal strength, concrete column specimens with cold-rolled ribbed steel bars of smaller diameter as stirrups have the similar seismic performance compared with specimens with HPB235 grade steel bars as stirrups, much more steel and energy can be saved, which is good for environmental protection as well as constructing the low-carbon life. This paper includes the following content:1. Make a statement in detail about the mind of Performance-Based Seismic Design as well as the application of Cold-rolled ribbed steel bars in construction.2. According to stirrup configuration specified in current code, 35 reinforced concrete column specimens are designed and carried out quasi-static experiment under low cyclic loading.3. In order to verify that CRB550 steel bars can be used as stirrups of concrete columns instead of HPB235 steel bars, particular comparison and analysis on the description of the experiment and seismic performance of the specimens are presented, followed by advice of modification for the code.4. The author simulates the column specimens tested above by finite element software, and compares the result between calculation and analysis, in order to verify the accuracy and feasibility of finite element method.5. The author designs 81 concrete columns with CRB550 grade steel bars as stirrups whose failure are controlled by bending, and simulate them under low cyclic loading through finite element software-OpenSEES, in order to figure out the performance criteria of the concrete column elements which can provide reference for performance-based seismic design of frame structures.
