Abstract


Objective:To explore the Calculation Method of Probability of Causation (PC) for radiation related leukemia in Chinese population.Methods First step, start with leukemia, one disease of the strongest etiology contact with radiation, to estimate Excess Relative Risk (ERR) for a Japanese group who have similar exposure histories with a Chinese individual by the model published in BEIR VII Phase2 (2006). Second step, to set gender and subtype-specific leukemia baseline incidence rates of Japanese population and Chinese population into a weighted risk transport model between an additive model and a multiplicative model, ERR has been transported from Japan to China. In terms of references about the risk transport model published these years, a series of weighing factors have been obtained. At last, we combined the former two steps to calculate the Chinese PC for radiation related leukemia.Results We obtained a series of weighing factors for risk transport models:weighing factor for male was 0.4; weighing factors for female, acute lymphoblastic leukemia, acute myeloid leukemia and chronic myeloid leukemia were 0.3. The uncertainty for ERR transportation was characterized by lognormal distribution. The Value of PC calculated in this study is smaller 0.57-10.41 percentage points than it calculated by GBZ97-2009. The PC online operation procedure developed at the request of National Cancer Institute (NCI), interactive radio-epidemiological program (1REP), has been translated to Chinese language, and the ERR coefficients within the program had been interpreted.Conclusions This study discussed the difference of baseline incidence rate between different countries which involved in GBZ97-2009 similarly, have innovation on the calculation method of PC in Chinese population, and have contribution to the development of PC in China.
