Abstract


Chenhongshou is a painting master who lived in early-Qing dynasty, his position in art history is unquestionable. Rapid change had happened in the late Ming and early Qing dynasty in Chinese history. The study of ChenHongShou’s life and art experience help us to investigate the nature and methodology of art. As the writer had paid more attention to the relation-ship between social background and style of art works, the paper will begin with the social background of the late-Ming dynasty with a detailed description of Chen’s life and art experience. Analysis of art works will focus on Chen’s landscape painting(due to the connection between Chinese landscape painting and philosophy of ancient China). The article had analys Chen’s painting method, image and manner. Furthermore the article had state the inner connection between Chenhongshou’s works and philosophy of ancient China. Finally, the writer had state what she learn from reading Chen’s works, and also tried to analyse Chen’s Chinese landscape painting in a modern way(form, dimension, etc.). In the conclusion of this thesis, the value of Chenhongshou’s idea on art and achievement were emphasized.
