Abstract

With the rapid development of the communications, Internet and computer technology, the application of video conferencing system is more and more widely being used, involving education, business and other areas. It has been proved that video conferencing can not only break the limits of time and space between businesses and their customers, colleagues and business partners, but also communicate efficiently and reduce business operating costs effectively, more low-carbon, and environmentally friendly.Based on the research on SIP and related protocols, the paper deeply analysed the structure of conference system’s protocol stack, and investigated the development of the mainstream product of video conferencing system and the relevant references. According to the functional requirements of the video conferencing system, the conferencing design model of distributed media and concentrated signal with multicast is finally selected.The video conferencing server in the paper is composed by three main parts: conference policy server, focus thread manager and SIP server management module. Conference policy server adopts the design pattern of MVC to distinguish view and control from the whole system to get the process of development clearer, and it finishes the implementation of conference policy, user management, conference management and conference resource management etc. Focus thread manager is based on earlier version of the module of conference control server that had realized the basic functions of the conference control, redesigns the session control API and uses a thread manager to manage all the focuses, and is in charge of conference notification, conference control, user control and user list notification etc. SIP server is the interactive media in the three of conferencing server, QoS server and terminals, and the control of the whole system is based on SIP communication. This server is developed on the platform of J2EE, adopts SIP protocol in the low-level, has a good expansibility and can slightly satisfy the interoperability between all kinds of standards-based SIP terminals. Conference server also provides a visual interface to facilitate the usability for system administrators and the average. The server running on the linux platform can run in the IPv4 network environment, while providing the support of the next generation IPv6 network protocol. In the thesis, the implementation of video conferencing server is based on SIP protocol, meets the requirement of the basic functions of conference system, and integrates all business of the server side in the same interface to facilitate system management. It has been tested experimentally in the campus network environment. According to the result, it meets the needs of people to communicate and exchange in the function, on the other hand, reaches a good user experience requirements and has sound practicality.
