Abstract


Majoring in English , eight exams ( TEM ) and College English Test Band (CET) is a domestic large-scale standardized English school proficiency test . Reading comprehension test is a very important part of these two examinations . This thesis will TEM4 and CET reading comprehension test part of a comparative study , in order to reveal the relationship between the two reading comprehension test . This thesis as the theoretical basis Bachmann theory of communicative language ability (CLA) and the test method level theory (TMF) , a combination of qualitative and quantitative analysis approach , trying to answer the following questions : 1 ) TEM4 chapter of reading material , reading comprehension questions , and the test reading skills ) and the CET reading comprehension tests of some of the content design ( including any similar or different place ? 2 ) reading test whether there is a level of difficulty significant difference ? 3 ) two reading test discrimination on whether there is a significant difference ? 4) the correlation between the performance of the candidates on the two reading test tasks ? study two steps . First , the authors collected TEM4 CET reading comprehension test three sets of questions , read the chapter of twenty-one . Analyzed from the following three aspects : Articles levels (lexical , syntactic , readability index , topic , discourse cohesion ) , reading comprehension question types and test the reading skills of these questions sampling . Secondly , to carry out experiments and reading test scores and questionnaires to explore the more difficult of the two examinations differences , differences in the degree of correlation of discrimination . The study showed that : Overall, the CET reading comprehension chapter harder than the English professional four chapters . The experimental data show that the the CET reading test more difficult discrimination . Two exams certain degree of correlation exists , but did not show a high correlation .
