Abstract


Under the background of government increasing the farmers’ income and improving the quality of life of farmers, how to promote agricultural growth and how to reducing regional disparity in agricultural growth are more and more urgent, and they have been the scholars’ research hotpots. Previous researches on agricultural growth are mostly from the domestic factors, such as domestic agricultural policy, the level of education of rural labor force, capital investment and technology Etc. In recent years, there are scholars research the role of international trade in promoting agricultural economic growth, so the study on how to promote the agricultural economic growth has already been very rich, however the research on the factors which affect the regional differences in agricultural growth is relatively little rich. So this paper chooses the agricultural trade as one of the main factors to analyze the effect of agricultural trade on the regional disparity in agricultural economic growth.On the basis of related literature review, mechanism analysis and status review, this paper chooses the agricultural trade data of 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities and then classifies accordingly. They can be divided into three regions of high, medium and low degree of agricultural trade openness, and then separately from the national level and regional level, this paper measures the degree of disparity of in agricultural trade and in agricultural growth among the three regional. Then according to the actual conditions of China, we set a model to empirical test the impact of agricultural trade on agricultural growth in each region, by the employed population in rural areas, government expenditure on agriculture, effective plantings, and agricultural trade as the independent variables, and by the total agricultural output as the dependent variable.The empirical results shows that the agricultural trade is playing significant role on agricultural growth in the all three regions, but there are remarkable differences in the promoting degree among the three regions of high, medium and low degree of agricultural trade openness. The higher of the degree of agricultural trade openness is, the larger of the effect of the agricultural trade on promoting agricultural economic growth. It can further interpreted as the inter-regional disparity has brought the regional imbalances of agricultural economic growth.At last, this article gives some proposals according to the regional disparity of agricultural economic growth and the status of China’s agricultural trade.
