Abstract

Wind rotor is the main component of the wind turbine generator system. The load of other components in wind turbine generator system is because of the load of the rotor. Since the components of the wind turbine undergo violent vibration for a long period of time, it causes the material that made up the component of the wind turbine to fatigue and decreasing the service life. It is also the cause the large amount of noise. One needs to control the load of the turbine without lowering the performance of the wind turbine. Therefore, this requires complicated mathematical analysis and control and it will sure significant to the normal operation of the wind turbine. This course will use the example of the analysis and computation of the aerodynamic load on the wind turbine to generate a control algorithm and to improve the performance of the wind turbine. There will be two sections. The first section is the mathematical simulation of the load on the wind rotor. In this section we will perform a analysis of the load on the rotor, more specifically to determine all the load and use the momentum and blade element theory to predict the load on the rotor in various situation by varying the parameters. In addition, also create a software program using MATLAB and use the "Bladed" software to verify all the calculated results. The second part of the course is controlling the load. We will use pitch variation to control the load. Also we will model the wind turbine by using pitch control and simulate the wind load and create PID controller according to the modelThrough the load mathematical modeling, we will verify the accuracy of the momentum and blade element theory. Also through the load simulation and utilization of pitch control to reduce the load of the rotor, thus increasing the operational stability of the wind turbine.
