Nowadays, a distributor in world trade market is facing fierce competition from not only other single player but also the supply chain behind each player. Aceto, as a multinational chemical distributor, is also facing some new challenges from political and economic environment of different countries, as well as end users, suppliers, resource allocations and distribution channels, etc. To enhance the core competency, many market insiders start outsourcing for its non-core business, thus make the 3PL service and VMI method more popular.Through analyzing the current supply chain of Aceto, the thesis identifies the potential problems in the chain. Then based on the research of 3PL and VMI, the thesis proposes possible solutions to these existing problems. Last but not least, the thesis discusses the scope, operation model and evaluation method of 3PL and VMI for Aceto.
