Objective: 1)To establish appropriate quality evaluation method of Brassica rapa L, based on the 2010 edition of "Chinese Pharmacopoeia". 2)To discuss the effect of total flavonoids in Brassica rapa L. on metabolism of oxyen free radicals in subacute aging mice caused by D-galactose. Methods: 1)The identification methods of characteristics, physical and chemical character, microscopic character, TLC character of Brassica rapa L. from nine different origin in Xin Jiang, and the moisture, total ash and acid-insoluble ash, heavy metals, arsenic salt, ethanol-soluble extractives were checked. Determined the trace elements content by atomic absorption spectrometry, the flavonoids content by fluorescence analysis and the quercetin content by the HPLC. 2)Subacute aging mice was caused by D-galactose the activities of brain SOD, GSH-PX, MDA in brain were determined. Results: 1)The quality standard draft was developed to control the quality of Brassica rapa L. 2)The extraction of total flavonoids in Brassica rapa L. could increase the activity of aging mice brain SOD, GSH-PX and reduce the activity of MDA. Conclusion: 1)The quality standards draft of Brassica rapa L. could provide a reference when the relevant departments to set standards for the future. 2)The result suggest that the total flavonoids of Brassica rapa L. may be have significant effect of anti-aging.
