Abstract


It’s not an accidental phenomenon that Chinese factors and images has been used in Hollywood film. Since the 1890s’ Chinese actor started to show in the screen of Hollywood, never fade out.It’s discovered that Chinese images are swinging between the two sereotype "evil" and "kindness". Chinese images are like the barometer of the relationship between China and U.S.A, when there is tension between two countries, the "evil" images would be showed and vice versa. Hollywood is not only a defender of the interests of U.S.A, but also an advocate of the Amerian ideology.Nowadays, It’s getting more and more that the factors and images of China has been used in Hollywood film. They become an important tool to close to the oriental audience, and achieve the bigger box office. I will discuss the evolution of the factors and images of China in the Hollywood film. Hollywood stereotypes of China have been spreading all over the world by American films for a long time, whereas Chinese film was absent.
