Abstract

Nowadays, the surface of urban areas is gradually covered with buildings and roads, and roads which are paved with ordinary concrete are always lack of ability of taking in heat and infiltrating. These lead to a series of environmental problems, such as urban thermal island effect and water standing. Meanwhile, since the ordinary harden revetment divides the city’s overground and underground part into two totally different environmental systems, making it difficult for underground water give out into atmosphere by means of vaporizing as well as for overground water infiltrate into the under part, it finally leads to the decline of nature’s climate adjusting ability. Besides, ordinary harden revetment can not have the underground soil get ample oxygen supply, letting animalcules living in the urban underground soil die. Pervious concrete is a kind of pro-environmental material, and it is also a product that could accommodate to "harmonious development of nature and human beings" in nowadays’ background. With the pervious concrete’s technique develops, roads paved with this material have been applied in some national key projects. However, the cracking of roads, especially the early cracking usually has a great effect on the carrying capacity and wear resistance of the structure. Augmentation of the pervious concrete’s contraction is one the main causes that lead to the cracking problems. Therefore, it is important to study the characteristic of different factors. The paper studies the effect of sand percentages and curing conditions on the contracting performance of pervious concrete. Meanwhile, it also studies the differences of shrinkage of both pervious and ordinary concrete in the same strength state.Per careful study, the conclusions are drawn as follow:1. For pervious concrete, the increase of sand percentage can obviously decrease it’s expanding caused by hydrating during the plastic period as well as it’s shrinkage after that.2. Under the natural curing conditions, compared with ordinary concrete in the same strength grade, the pervious one(sand free)’s early and plastic shrinkage is larger, which gradually becomes smaller with ages after harden period. 3. Pervious concrete’s plasticity and early shrinkage are more sensitive to surrounding environment. Therefore, sufficient curing during the early period of hydrating and hardening can reduce the risk of cracking. The research findings of the topic is of certain referential value in construction of pervious concrete pavement and the budget statement of technical tutorials.
