Abstract


Objective: We examined the expression of RET and MMP-2 in differentiated thyroid carcinoma and discussed their diagnostic value and the relation ship between these expressions .Methods:The expression and distribution ofRET and MMP-2 are detected by tissue microarray technology and immunohistochemical technique in 50 cases of differentiated thyroid carcinoma tissue(including 35PTC and 15 FTC), 15cases of thyroid adenoma ,15cases of nodular goiter and 25 negative margins were used as the thyroid tissues normal group.Then to integrate clinicopathologic parameters on the analysis.Results:The level of RET and MMP-2 expression in differentiated thyroid carcinoma were obviously higher than that in normal thyroid tissues group(p<0.01),and they expression were related to clinical stage(P<0.05),unrelated to sex and age(P>0·05). RET and MMP-2 expression were higher in careinoma with lymphnode involvement than that in careinoma with no lymphnode involvement(P<0.05).The more tumor cells secrete RET and MMP-2,the more invade and transfer.Conclusion:(1) RET and MMP-2 have a high expression in undifferentiated thyroid cancer(including papillary thyroid carcinoma and follicular thyroid carcinoma ,and a low expression in non-thyroid cancer organization(thyroid adenoma ,nodular goiter and normal thyroid organization),there are significant differences in the two groups;(2) RET and MMP-2 may play an important role in the invasion and metastasis of thyroid cancer.(3)The expression of RET and MMP-2 is not correlated to the age and gender of patients in differentiated thyroid cancer.
