Abstract


With the position of composition and form in the artistic creation as the starting point, and with the author’s personal experience in this field, this thesis analyzes their application in the creation, distinguishes the relation between the picture composition, the form, and the content, and argues that composition and the form are not the absolute aesthetic standard, but rather the visual language in the picture. The thesis holds that the picture composition is the frame of painting art, the form is the important visual element in painting works, and the content as well as the emotional expression is the soul for artistic creation. The thesis also distinguishes the artistic picture composition in China and that in western world, and at the same time highlights its charm and significance in the artistic works. The thesis also suggests that any good artist should answer the need of the time, make changes according to the development of the content of arts, inherit and reform the traditional forms of arts, and create new forms for the new content, so as to produce outstanding works of arts with elegant forms as well as distinct features of the time.
