Abstract


Family Su of Mei Shan rised in the time of Su Xu in Song dynasty and reached to its summit in the time of Su Shi and Su Zhe three generations later. After that, Family Su fade away for sorts of reasons. Their descendents was a huge group. They inherited the tradition of the family, besides that, some members were appraised for their literature and official performance. Although their repute and achievement were not as outstanding as their ancestry, they are still an unignorable group at the point of family researching. Therefore, this article puts the focus on the descendents of Su Shi and Su Zhe. In Part One, the pedigree of the descendents and their personal life will be straightened out by referring to the related materials. Contemporary scholar’s results are used for references here, but the most meaningful things are the addition of new materials, new discoveries and correcting several mistakes. In Part Two, Su Guo and Su Zhou who are the only two members whose collected works can be seen today will be researched. Su Guo’s life was almost mingled with the old age of Su Shi and Su Zhe. So we can see a different view of the old age of Su Shi and Su Zhe by reading Su Guo’s works. In addition to that, we also can understand the scare, the hesitate, the lonesome of a typical descendent of the member of Yuanyou Party. Su Zhou has been taken as a hypocritical man for his words in early South Song dynasty. But here an objective point will be given. In Part Three, focusing on the the descendents, the tradition of family Su which is under the background of Shu culture will be summarized.
