Abstract


Waterway transportation has a long history and takes on the most cargo transportation tasks for a long time.As an indispensable part of comprehensive transportation system,waterway makes tremendous contribution to the progress of economy and society.With the rapid development of global economy,waterway industry has more and more closely linked with the socio-economy.Waterway industry has played an important role in development of regional economy and foreign trade、promotion of multilateral an bilateral international cooperation as well as the increasing the position of our country in the international community.In order to fully understand the contribution of waterway industry to economy,it need to analyze the problems in the process of the development of waterway industry,to explore the position and action in the economic system,and to put forward feasible suggestions.The paper employs input-output analysis to study the industry characteristics and economic contribution of waterway industry of Shandong Province.Firstly,the paper gives out a review of related research methods and theories both domestic and abroad. Secondly,the paper introduces the present situation of waterway industry,as well as its status in the national economy of Shandong Province.In the third chapter,it analyzes the correlation theory of economic contribution of waterway industry.The contribution of waterway industry has two aspects:the contribution to the GDP and contribution to employment.It establishes a system of indexes that evaluates the contribution of waterway transportation to economy and society.At the same time,the paper also introduces the input-output method,which is an important tool in researching the interaction effect and relation among different departments in national economy.It employs input-output table to establish mathematical model,analyze the relatedness between waterway industry and other industries,and contribution to national economy. Fourth,on the basis of the above theory,the paper describes waterway transportation’s contribution from the perspective of qualitative and quantitative analysis.Finally,in according to the result of calculations,the paper also put forward to some suggestions to further the development of Shandong’s waterway transportation,as well as points out the problems of this paper and vision for future.
