Abstract

This paper explores the influences of six agents, such as 1815,NNO, peregal O,nonionic and anionic acrylic acid grafted starch, and cationic gemini surfactant M,on the dyeing and staining behavior of polyamide and cotton fabrics during dyeing and soaping, using an orthogonal and single factor experimental approach. In addition, the interaction between dyes and agents is investigated through the measurements of the surface tension and UV-Vis absorption spectroscopic analysis. Our study shows that during the dyeing process,1) The mixture of 1815 and NNO could prevent staining and improve dyeing properties;2) 1815,peregal O,nonionic acrylic acid grafted starch or cationic gemini surfactant M may be used in stain-preventing of polyamide fabrics;3) The mixture of cationic gemini surfactant M and 1815 would reduce the stain of both fabrics. It also shows that, during soaping process,1) 1815 and cationic gemini surfactant M could be used either separately or together in stain-preventing of both fabrics;2) the impact of other mixed surfactants are related to the structures of dyes. Finally,it shows that the solution surface tension could be lowered effectively by 1815,peregal O or cationic gemini surfactant M and the influence of mixed surfactants to the absorptions of dyes is related to the types of surfactants and dyes.
