The main purpose of this paper is to examine the impact of the turbulence model on the numerical simulation of the combustion chamber for a certain type of aero-engine in order to obtain the best applicable turbulence model to the combustion chamber simulation. Theory on the turbulent flow and the development situation of numerical at home and abroad are summarized comprehensively, various turbulence models is introduced in detail; through practical computation cases, the influence of the parameters in various model and wall function on the simulation of the turbulence in discussed.Studies of the turbulence model have a century of history. For various flow pattern and different geometry of structure, many turbulence models have been proposed, and remarkable improvements in the accurate calculation and investigation of real flow and heat transfer problems were gained. But the lack of universal and computationally efficient turbulent models is as of old. In the absence of universal turbulence models, the study of computing technology with different turbulence models and wall treatment methods is a meaningful way. This article is focused on the current widely adopted turbulent models, that is the standard k -εmodel, RNG k -εmodel, Realizable k -εmodel and Reynolds stress model, in the numerical calculation, meanwhile the standard wall function method and enhanced wall function method is used as the wall treatment methods to calculate a certain type of aero-engine combustion chamber for a preliminary evaluation. In the simulation of the full combustion chamber, complexity of the computation domain is reasonably reduced, the geometric model is set up and discretized into grids, and the non-premixed combustion model is chosen to simulate turbulent diffusion combustion, the P-1 radiation model to estimate the radiation flux. The models is solved using a commercial parallel CFD software FLUENT on high-performance computing clusters (HPCC), and high order discrete scheme and SIMPLE algorithm has been used. The numerical solution of the combustion chamber flow, spray and combustion process is acquired. The distributions of velocity, pressure, temperature in the combustion chamber are analyzed, and the results are compared with experimental data. Simulation results show that the Realizable k -εmodel and the experimental results are close and is the most appropriate of the turbulent models for the combustion numerical calculation.
