Abstract


Folk religion is a form of religion most closely in conjunction with the social life of the Chinese people. It not only plays an important role in the formation of Chinese folk ideology and culture, but also plays an important influence on the direction of civil society in China. White Lotus is the most important and the longest duration of a Chinese folk religion. Since it is produced, in its ongoing evolution of Chinese society folk movement has played a role in promoting and leading orthodox ideology and social order of feudal society launched a violent impact. Yuan Dynasty White Lotus Chinese folk religion is an important period of transition. Its future generations of folk religious movement has a profound impact. Due to the secretive nature of the folk religion, secular and non-normative successive government are difficult to make effective management, there are \Therefore, the management of the civil religion is a the religious management problem. To strengthen the multi-angle study of folk religion, and help us to more clearly understand the nature of the White Lotus folk religion and grasp the special relationship between civil religion and political power. Has a special significance for the increase of religious studies in theoretical level, at the same time has practical significance for the promotion of religion and the harmonious development of society. This article focuses on the Yuan Dynasty White Lotus as an example to study the interaction between the folk religion and government. The paper is divided into five parts: first, the White Lotus Rise and Buddhist folk of the historical relationship.
