Abstract


Foreign language learning, the importance of the teaching of reading has always been widely recognized. With the deepening understanding of the reading process, reading theory is constantly updated, and the methods of teaching reading are gradually changing. Nearly thirty years, the development of text linguistics soon, it is the object of the study of the language from sentences rose to chapter to chapter as the basic semantic unit of language use. A New Perspective in language study brought a lot of inspiration to the teaching of reading. Discourse analysis is the study communicative language, way of describing the discourse formation and understanding. The cohesion theory is one of the most typical discourse analysis theory has aroused wide concern and attention in modern linguistics. Discourse Cohesion language teaching has a direct reading process is actually between readers and Discourse as much as possible to make a reasonable dialogue, readers combine their own knowledge and discourse to build understanding of the discourse in the reading process, convergence means as readers signpost, the readers guessing significance by means of cohesive devices guess, to maximize the understanding of want to express the true meaning, or build your own understanding In this sense, convergence means can have a positive impact on the reading, help students to make more accurate predictions on the structure of the text, help students practical ability to use language and develop their thinking skills. cohesion theory in the reading process, discourse-based reading strategies help students master the article as a whole to strengthen chapter consciousness, this is the reading teaching requirements. Cohesion Theory for college English reading teaching has a very important role in this paper is the convergence theory for college English reading teaching exploratory research done in order to prove the practical value of the convergence theory, this article focuses investigate the convergence theory in college English reading teaching, through practice, first-hand material, concluded: conscious convergence theory of the students reading strategies training can effectively improve reading comprehension level reading; discourse analysis model is applied to English reading instruction is effective and feasible. Finally, from the angle of Discourse Cohesion, of how to improve reading comprehension, few teaching suggestions and pointed out the direction of future research summary, this article attempts to Cohesion Theory in College English teaching of reading, and prove that it is an effective way to improve English reading ability.
