Image scaling , also known as image resampling , is one of the key technologies in digital video processing . Image scaling technology is widely available image display , transmission , image analysis , animation , movies synthesis . The scaling of the image can be achieved through interpolation techniques . However, traditional interpolation algorithm , the high frequency portion of the interpolation image loss , leading to edge blur, blockiness , details degradation . Because the human eye is more sensitive to the characteristics of shape, contour , etc. , on the contrary , is not sensitive to absolute gray , so the visual quality of the interpolation process for the digital image is mainly dependent on the edges of the image , the interpolation image edge portion of the resolution of an image the quality is very important . Therefore, how neighboring points on the outline of the image points and close to the outline of the image interpolation in order to prevent the blurred edges or details of focus to enhance the interpolation algorithm performance degradation problem occurs . Image scaling algorithm For the above reasons , the paper introduced the idea of edge protection interpolation , fully tap the spatial gradient information and statistical characteristics of the image data , the image edge direction interpolation adaptive image scaling . Designed edge detection and enhancement algorithm and its VLSI design , software and hardware simulation to verify the effectiveness of the algorithm ; developed an adaptive edge-preserving interpolation algorithm and its VLSI design , adaptive interpolation algorithm interpolated images for edge detection, and on the edge direction interpolation, rather than across the edge direction interpolation . The proposed algorithm processing scaling the edge of the image is sharper , eliminate the edges of the image blurred serrated effect , checkerboard effect , can be applied to the actual digital video processing chip .
