Abstract


This paper studies the impact of West line phaseⅠof South-North Water Divertion Project on the ecological environment.The studied items include hydrological regime,water environment safety,wet land,riparian vegetation and zoobenthos.Some initial countermeasures have been proposed in this paper.The study shows:(1) Water volume,surface area and depth of rivers increases with increasing distance downstream the dam to divert water;(2) Surface water environment of main reach were classⅡ; (3) Wetlands along Yalong main stream and Da River and Ni River and Zhuosijia River are likely to disappear while wetlands along Zumuzu river may be isolated;(4) There would be a ecological threat, even a significant reduction in biological diversity in wetlands;(5) Shrubs in the riparian vegetation would increase because of changes in hydrological and sandy conditions,but the total number of species of the riparian vegetation would be reduced,and biodiversity would suffer;(6) The zoobenthos species began to reduce when the surface area of water was cut to 45%,and there was a sharp decline in number of species when it was cut to 10%;(7) Based on different ecological response,ecohydrological countermeasures were proposed,which included the water transfer,ecological restoration,and rational distribution of regional water resources and other measures.
