Abstract


Xu Peidong is a famous composer of contemporary China. He is reputed for his composition of popular songs among the music circles. His works are characterized with distinctness of music works, national characters and creative pluralism which includes popular, national , art songs. He also contributes the background music to a lot of films and television programs. A large amount of his works have already become the classics of the contemporary China; have a far-reaching impact on Chinese singers , and have pushed and facilitated the development of the music undertaking of our country.At present, in the academic circle, researches on music development after the foundation of the state and especially, after opening up to the outside world are comparatively inadequate. The new period of opening up to the outside world represented by Xu Peidong, is a brand new course of its own history of culture and arts with numerous and complicated artistic achievement, plural cultural idea and rapid transformation. Their ideas guiding artistic or literary creation, style characteristics, representative works play the role of taking over from the past and set a new course for the future in contemporary China.This paper is mainly concerned with the creation style of Xu Peidong. Taking Mr. Xu’s representative classical songs as the research object and analyze the original version as the research object, we draw the conclusion: by taking root in China’s national music culture, melting the melody , skill and technique , national spirit, spirit of the times in an organic whole, integrating national characteristic with popularity, he creates the trend of the mainstream for China’s contemporary song in artistic pluralism.The paper is made up of the following chapters: Introduction: It is reviewed briefly that the creation of the Chinese vocal music the new-period songs creation characteristics and Mr. Xu’s contribution.Chapter one: Artistic career and major works of Mr. Xu. And the creation road and main works are introduced.Chapter two: Abundant analysis of style of Mr. Xu’s songs. This chapter carries on overall combing from the combination of national characteristic with popularity the combination of the respect of popular with the artistry of era and masses, through which the creation tactics from this field and distinct individual character of the composers are presented.Chapter three: Art activity and influence of Mr. Xu. This chapter, from the perspective of Guangdong folk music dual creation and his resistance to bad network songs, discussed his special contribution to Chinese music career.
