Abstract

Suzhou Cheng Lake northwest (Xi Hui Pu estuary) the bottom of the lake residues have a broad and deep valley, speculated that the early days of the Taihu Lake Basin into a part of the sea channel (Ancient Songjiang) of, where filling deposition a complete record of since the region late Quaternary sea-land interaction history. 2006 obtained by drilling an up to 14m sample core (SC1 hole, latitude and longitude 31 ° 14'42 .9 \The lithology observed, AMS 14 C dating, particle size analysis, magnetic parameter measurement, foraminifera detailed analysis of the combination of historical documents and previously carried out by pollen analysis, and comprehensive comparison area drill hole, this paper obtained the following preliminary conclusions: (1) study confirmed that two of the region since the late Quaternary transgressive event. Which last occurred in the late in the late Pleistocene (equivalent the Gehu transgression), the latter occurred in the middle Holocene (equivalent Zhenjiang transgression), consistent with the conclusion of previous studies based on micro ancient. Foraminiferal assemblage characteristics and deposition thickness, Gehu transgression to want big compared to the size of the Zhenjiang transgression; former is a regional transgression, which appears only in the river valleys and low-lying lakes deposition zone. Comprehensive study other drilling data that the Gehu transgression and Zhenjiang transgression respectively corresponding to the last glacial interglacial (MIS-3) high-temperature period of the late Holocene (MIS-1), which can show that the region late fourth Discipline transgression is the result of changes in regional sea level in the context of global heating and climate fluctuations. (2) The study also revealed a series of salt water intrusion event Holocene Zhenjiang transgression, more than ten times as many as in the middle and late Holocene sedimentary record. The region there are times a sea fluctuations (transgressive procedure), which prove that in addition to the large-scale transgression. (3) Cheng Lake area since late Quaternary depositional environments experienced the following stages of evolution: the mid-late Pleistocene (MIS-3, equivalent to the SC1 hole depth 12.9 to 8.9m): developmental transgression ancient valley of the river bed, floodplain phase deposition; late Late Pleistocene (MIS-2, 8.9 to 6.7m): developmental regression in rivers, lakes sediments; early Holocene (6.7 ~ 5.25m) phase, some coastal sediments of estuaries; mid-Holocene ( 5.25 ~ 4.65m) for the littoral and shallow marine facies; late - late Holocene (4.65 ~ 0m): fluvial - estuarine, coastal plain freshwater lacustrine sediments. (4) since the late Holocene, Xi Hui Pu estuary west side for the low-lying morass of low-lying land, settlement sites are mainly located in the east side of the estuary paleochannel lake beach and lake bottom. Holocene sea-level change, or the shoreline changes control the proliferation and migration of cultural sites in this area.
