Abstract

Bulk-heterojunction (BHJ) polymer solar cells (PSCs) have attracted considerable attention recently due to their advantages of easy fabrication, low cost, light weight, and flexibility in large-area applications. In this paper, we focus our interests on photovoltaic device based on P3HT. The main results are summarized as follows:(1) PSCs with indene addition product of [6,6]-phenyl-C61-butyric acid methyl esteras(IPCBM) as electron acceptor and poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT) as electron donor were fabricated and characterized with the device structure of ITO/PEDOT:PSS/P3HT:IPCBM/Ca/Al. The photoactive layer was fabricated by solvent annealing process. The effects of donor/acceptor blend ratio, prethermal annealing temperature were investigated. After optimization, the power conversion efficiency of (PCE) the PSC reached 4.39% with Voc=0.72 V,Isc=9.49 mA/cm2, and FF=64.3% under the illumination of AM1.5G,100 mW/cm-2.(2) We investigated the influence of 3MT and 3HT additives on the morphology and photovoltaic performance of the PSCs based on P3HT:PCBM (1:1 w/w) blend. The 3MT-processed devices without thermal annealing exhibit PCE of 3.65%, which is similar with that (3.57%) of the PSC without additive but with thermal annealing at 150℃for 10min.(3) We studied the effect of the organic solvent treatment of the PEDOT:PSS modification layer on the photovoltaic performance of the PSCs. The power conversion efficiency of the P3HT/PCBM-based PSC with 2-propanol treated PEDOT:PSS modification layer reached 4.74% with aISC of 11.07 mA/cm2, aVoc of 0.61 V and a higher FF of 70.4% under the illumination of AM1.5G,100 mW/cm-2.The efficiency of 4.74% is among the highest values reported for P3HT/PCBM-based PSCs.
