Abstract


With the development of the time and continuous improvement of the living standard, leisure has become an important part of daily life, and the construction of leisure space also becomes an important research area in urban design. Urban leisure space provides leisure, entertainment, gathering places for people to enhance exchanges and enrich the cultural life, its quality directly decide the level of people’s leisure life.The study of urban space has always been included the society and the physical area, it is organic combination of the space behavior and material entity. People are actors in space, space service for people and people’s acts. Thus, the study of urban leisure space can not be separated from the study of people’s behavior. Only by fully understanding the characteristics of people’s leisure behavior, and exploring the deep contact between behavior and environment, we can create a dynamic urban space with comfortable and pleasant, full of humane care, and a sense of identity and belonging for people.This article seeks to use the theoretical study, methods, and the concept of environmental behavior, psychology architecture, urban planning to adjuvant its own idea. Through the study of the interactions between spatial patterns and leisure behavior, the article restores the understanding of space back to the exploring of the behavior, in order to discuss how to design the leisure space for people based on the demand of leisure behavior.The first chapter of the dissertation researches about the background, meaning, purpose and related concepts, setting up the logical structure of the whole article; The second chapter includes a wide range of relevant background reading materials on the basis of leisure space and the related history about the urban space. The third Chapter mainly analyses the activity law of leisure behavior and make a contact between behavior actor and spatial entity from the angle of Environmental perception. The forth Chapter explains the impact from the physical elements of space and image construction in detail. The fifth Chapter summarizes the design principles and ideas based on the behavior patterns. The last Chapter combines the basic theory and the analysis above to the typical examples, making an evaluation about the existing urban leisure space.
