Abstract


When we enter the Digital Era in twenty-first century,a“digital revolution”is widely infiltrated into the structure of human society in all aspects.It also influences people’s production,livelihood and the way of communication.To some extent,even the pattern of the economic,society and family has changed.So, architecture as well,is facing an opportunity and challenge never had before.And no one can predict exactly whatever subversion the profound social revolution would bring to architecture.At this particular period,as a sensitive and key point of architecture,the architectural form faces great challenges in the new era.What kinds of architectural form do the Digital Era need after all? How can architectural form meets the developing requirements of the Digital Era?Based on the background above,the dissertation tries to explore and analyse the architectural form in the Digital Era.The dissertation takes the generation progress of architectural form as the research framework and exerts exploration on the Digital Era according to three aspects as following.First aspect focuses on the influence of social ideology on architectural form.The second aspect is on the expansion of the creation and construction of architectural form.The third aspect is about how can architectural form convey certain meaning and the expression of space spirit.Then,the characters of architectural form in the Digital Era can be generally summed up as process vs result,dynamic vs static,soft vs freeze,open vs closed.Finally,the dissertation tries to presume the possible trend of architectural form in the future, which are returning to the digital craftworks,mass customization and generating life-architecture.So,we can discern the direction which we will make great efforts for the possible future.
