Abstract

With the development of China’s economy and the progress of science and technology, a number of large-span structures (such as stadiums) have gradually on the rise. These structures are often very sensitive to strong wind because of the large span, light weight, low and intensive vibration frequency. Therefore the the wind load on the roof surfaces is often the control load in the design of the structures. The knowledge of wind load on large-span roofs of these structures is far from complete, and the research of wind-resistant design theory has also been slow at present.Considering the complicated wind load on the surface of a large span cantilevered roof of the stadium ,the wind tunnel test on a 1:100 scale rigid stadium model had been carried out. Based on the calculation and analysis of the experiment and the numerical simulation results, this paper discussed the characteristics of the wind load on the roof surface .In this paper the discussions include the wind pressure distribution on the roof ,space correlation of the wind load and the interference effect of the gymnasium ,and some significant conclusions were obtained:(1)The wind tunnel test on a rigid stadium model had been carried out . Based on the calculation and analysis of the experiment, the distribution of the net average wind pressure coefficients on the roof was obtained. The net wind pressure on the large span roof is mainly negative.(2)The correlation coefficients of between up and down surfaces was calculated. There is a high correlation of the wind pressures between up and down surface. The correlation coefficients of net wind pressures of different pressure taps decreases with distance of the taps. The correlation coefficients of between up and down downstream surfaces is weakened by the upstream surface.(3)At each wind direction , the coherence function of the net wind pressure on different synchronous measured taps decreases with distance and lower frequency. For higher frequency ,the coherence function don’t changed significantly when the distance of two pressure taps is changed.(4)The wind load on the stadium roof surfaces is influenced significantly by the gymnasium . The existence of the gymnasium changes the wind field beyond the roof of the stadium nearby, and influence the distribution of the net wind pressure on the roofs and the space correlation and the correlation coefficient of between up and down surfaces.(5)From the wind tunnel test and numerical simulation results in comparison, it can be seen that the simulated results of negative pressure is greater than the experiment results, swathes negative investigate its reason is caused by the corner vortex shedding regional, and numerical simulation calculation model of corner is idealistic sharp edges, accelerate the vortex shedding and flow separation, leading to a negative pressure too big.
