With China 's highway network construction are maturing , the highway has become China 's road transport network aorta , its commitment to a large number of important transport task , highway pavement should maintain good performance in a long time . Many developed countries trunk road network has been built , but a lot of pavement does not meet the design life span has occurred the decreased structural damage or level of service , must carry out alterations or reconstruction , and its funding . These problems in our country , has also frequently appeared limited highway service role in the social and economic benefits . Long-term pavement performance studies , carried out in our country and help to further promote road construction technology and the pavement management methods scientific , and provide technical support for the strategic development of our highway , highway economic investment and social benefits . Observing the timing and frequency of long - term performance of highway asphalt pavement temperature survey of the major cities of the provinces ( municipalities and autonomous regions ) in China , rainfall data as the main principle of the most unfavorable seasons with the minimum sample size to determine each the timing and frequency of observation of indicators .
