Situation and Trend of Cattle Prodution in Counties of Jinagxi Province with Cattle Improvement Task and the Feeding Value of Ryegrass in Cattle Production

Abstract


We summarized the favorable conditions of developing cattle industry by utilizing natural grassland and planting pastures in paddy rice field during winter fallow season with the point of cattle production in the future in China, furthermore, we also researched the current situation and trend of cattle prodution in the rural areas by the survey of cattle production in counties of Jiangxi province with cattle improvement task.Results showed that farmers could have an average net income of 1421.58 Yuan for feeding one cattle in shed and of 1079.9 Yuan for one cattle grazing.Feeding Experiment was conducted to study the effect of feeding ryegrass in winter on cow condition, pregnance percentage, feeding cost and efficiency. Results indicated that cow gained a bodyweight of 8.51kg on average in winter when fed 23kg ryegrass,7kg dry rice straw and 0.5kg wheat bran daily,increased pregnance percentage from 71.11% to 97.78% and gained income 30% higher.Planting experiment was also conducted to estimate the ryegrass yield.data showed that ryegrass growed faster and had a height of 122.72,143.41 and 162.51cm, respectively, when using 45t,90t and 135t fermented cattle feces as the base fertilizer per hectare and 18.25.50kg.biogas slurry after cutting each time,the yield of fresh ryegrass per hectare was 58833.3kg,115667kg and 163000kg.In order to improve beef cattle production, we should strength the leadership,publication and demonstration, invest more money to support pasture production and research including the selection and cultivation of pasture varieties with good quality,encourage farmers to plant pastures in paddy field during winter fallow sean with some free investment, make some measures to protect and use the natural grassland and make out preferential policy to attract more investment to promote cattle production in the way of developing more grass products and feeding cattle in different models in different areas.
