Abstract


Good faith is the traditional virtue of the Chinese nation. The view and the idea of good faith have a long history and coming in a stream, its reasonable ingredient is regarded as Chinese nation’s valuable moral resources. However, the good faith in the traditional morals has its limitations of history and social class, which has a differentiation with the demands of the modern market economy, mainly shows that: the former is simply the moral category, emphasizes that the moral fist with the characteristics of narrowness and inequality; the later is a legal and moral category, emphasizes that the benefit first with the characteristics of universality and equality. A fully understanding of the, differentiation has a great significance in terms of building up a modern view of good faith which fits for the development of the socialist market economy and harmonious society. .To construct a fair, justified, honest and friendly harmonious socialist society, we must insist on the dialectical combination of the traditional views of honesty and socialist outlook of righteousness and interests and integrate the human-oriented notion into them.This paper with a discussion on the connotation and characteristics of the traditional concept of "Cordiality and Faith"; thus shows its limitations in terms of history and class. Then it discusses the inheritance and the transformation of the traditional concept of "Cordiality and Faith" in modern society and puts forward transformations to adapt to the modern social life as well as strategies and thoughts to form the good atmosphere of cordiality and faith in the entire society.
