Abstract


During the mid-eighties, the Chinses Avant-garde Literrature is a narrative revolution that grew in“the west wind”. Yuhua, as one of the representative persons of Avant-garde Literrature, is particular in the contemporary writers by his unique narrative art. He carries a bold transformation on his novel narrative pattern by his indifferent attitude. The bold transformation has subverted the traditional novel about life cognition and developed a new esthetic art space. The reason why Yuhua whose life is unromantic could obtain the large artistic achievement is related to his“foreign literature teacher”,especially the one called Faulkner. He thought Faulkner is one of the few peple who teach others writing, and he is glad to think himself as that kind of writer. On the one hand, we can see that Yuhua is imitating and using Faulkner’s narrative art. On the other hand, this is not a simple skill study question for Yuhua. Each kind of external influence has broken through the frame which the body uses, melts completely to his artistic thought and the inditement, and becomes to the writing driven by his heart. It becomes to his inalienable part. Based on the comparative literature theory, the thesis discusses that Yuhua accepts and varies Faulkner’s narrative art by the method of parallel research and the influence research. The further finding forms the culture tradition, national character as well as the indited chance and idea course in their works. These refracts the complicated connection of Western modernist literature and Chinese contemporary literature. The full text divides into following several parts:Part one, introduction. This part proposes that Yuhua accepts and varies Faulkner’s narrative art, points out that this topic can be studied furtherly, and indicates the present situation of research, the research mentality and method.Part two, Yuhua’s acceptance and variation about Faulkner’s narrative art. Faulkner and Yuhua are all writers craved in narrate. The narrates, as the remarkabe mark of Yuhua’s inditement, enable him to have sorts of entanglements with Faulkner. Yuhua’s acceptance and variation of Faulkner are analysed from two aspects of narrative angle of view and the narration time.Part third, the root that Yuhua’s acceptance about Faulkner’s narrative art. In those modernist writers, the thing that Yuhua chose Faulkner as his“skilled worker”is not accidental. They live in different time and region, and are influenced by different culture. But there are something astonishing in common between them. These common grounds cause Yuhua to adore Faulkner, and make Yuhua choose Faulkner as his narrative art teacher. Then Yuhua has written many works using the modern narrative skill. In order to obtain some regular understanding about their creations, this part will study the resemblance between the two aspects about their similar creation experience and the seed of their inditing desires.Part four, conclusion. This part points out that Yuhua walks out a quite meaningful road of literature creation during the process of Yuhua’s acceptance and variation about Faulkner. He syncretizes the Western technology and national expience together, and makes his own works have a brand of“Yu”. Finally, we hope that Yuhua’s works will live in the sound and the fury for ever.
